TRANSFORM TO A GREEN ECONOMY

With the collaboration of Syriatel, the second environmental conference was held on the 29th of January under the title “Transformation to a green economy” in Ministry of environment, Damascus.

The conference included the show of special preparations for the global Rio+20 conference scheduled to be held in Brazil at the end of 2012, in addition to revealing the subjects that will be held throughout the convention.

Representatives of the participating companies exposed their firm's activities in the fields of ecology and in their change towards green based economy, Ayman Kasri (Sustainable energy Project Manager at Syriatel) presented, in a detailed exposé, the latest initiatives taken within the company in regards to the issue at hand, as well as the social activities undertaken by Syriatel in its efforts to spread the green culture within the Syrian community. Various other green-related topics were discussed, like the recycling of all used paper material and the replacing of the Traditional coverage sites with the new green sites (Hybrid Sites) operated by the  renewable energy( wind and solar energy), in addition to answering the audience's inquiries.

The above mentioned conference comes as part of the workshop held between the 17th till the 19th of January, under the theme of TRANSFORMATION TO A GREEN ECONOMY, in the hall of the Holy Cross Church and in collaboration with the ministry of the environment.
